Walking With God

There is a great story in the Old Testament about an ancient man named Enoch.  We know hardly anything about him.  There seemed to be writings about him in the New Testament times, and even a book by his name.  What we do know is true, the scriptures provide for us an evaluation of his life.  He lived in the terrible times just before the Flood.  God gave us an evaluation of the culture of that time, he says “he was sorry he made man.”  The Bible tells us that people were brutal to each other as well as debased in their behavior. In Genesis we are told that Enoch was the father of the oldest man ever, Methuselah.  In the genealogy offered in chapter 5 gives us this information.

Genesis 5:21-24 –

And Enoch lived sixty and five years, and begat Methuselah: and Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah three hundred years, and begat sons and daughters: and all the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty and five years: and Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.

Notice how the sacred scriptures tell us two times.  “Enoch walked with God”, it also tells us that he was taken away by God!  Not sure what that means exactly but it seems to suggest an early type of rapture.   But here is what I want us to focus on, “walking with God.”  What does that mean and am I doing it?

What would be your definition of walking with God?
